THE ROLE: IT Engineer

Job Summary:

The IT Engineer is responsible for planning, leading, organizing, and motivating the IT team to achieve a high level of performance and quality in delivering projects that provide exceptional business value to users. The IT Engineer works closely with senior leadership to set objectives, encourage, measure, reward, and take corrective action to facilitate team member growth and development of capabilities, all the while fostering collaborative teamwork. The IT Engineer will be responsible for influencing and recommending changes to policies, processes, tools, and procedures that affect the immediate organization as well provide oversight to the day-to-day operations of IT and IT related managed services. The Engineer will require hands on experience in the technologies and applications used within the business.

Job Responsibilities:

• Provide hands on IT Expertise within the technologies of both the Datacenters and Networks. This will include skills in Dell Compute, EMC and Pure Storage, VMware Virtualization, Cisco Networking and general Security.


• Manages the coordination of the work responsibilities and assignments for team with responsibility for results, including costs, methods staffing, and employee development/performance.


• Provide guidance with the latitude of company policies and practices to ensure a highly productive team within IT by setting a strong example for the team to follow.


• Establish strong and effective working relationships of collaboration and trust for business owners, technical partners, and co-workers.


• Assess team capabilities, identifies, and plans resource allocations, and proposes options for ongoing support to customers and projects.


• Sets objectives, encourages, and measures continued team member growth and mastery in all areas.


• Recruiting temporary and/or regular full-time resources who meet the team’s high standards and qualifications and provide comprehensive onboarding and support.


• Define, implement, and manage IT projects across several business functions.


• Lead, drive, and own the development and delivery of infrastructure and operational strategies.


• Lead IT governance by defining and promoting IT policies & best practices.


• Lead in maintaining datacenters, systems and application across business functions.


• Manage risk across cyber security, data security, and access protocol.


• Develop, test, and maintain plans for business continuity and disaster recovery processes.


• Ensure systems are fit for purpose and performing to a high standard.


• Respond to and resolve escalated issues.


• Conduct gap analysis and manage the procurement of new IT services.

Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent experience and/or military experience.

• Six+ years’ experience in the IT Sector.


• Demonstrated ability to develop, mentor, and grow team(s).


• Hands-on experience in leading process improvement initiatives.


• High proficiency in Microsoft Office 365.


• Experience with third party vendor integrations with ERP systems and other business applications.


• Excellent knowledge across Datacenter, Networking, Cybersecurity, Disaster recovery, and Business continuity.


• Experience with VMware, vSphere, ESXi.


• Experience with Storage technologies including EMC and Pure.


• Experience with Rubrik Backup and replication technologies.


• Experience with GDPR and other Ireland and UK compliances.


• Demonstrable ability to influence IT decisions
