Job Description
As a member of the Site EHS team, work collaboratively to ensure that compliant environmental, health, and safety (EHS) programs are developed and implemented within operating departments at the South San Francisco site. Integrates EHS programs into daily operations to assure regulatory compliance, achieves continuous performance improvement, meeting EHS performance objectives. Partners with operations to develop objectives to achieve these goals in alignment with site business goals and values. Performs responsibilities and addresses problems with limited supervision.
- Completes environmental regulatory field analysis, environmental reports and permit applications, hazard assessments, industrial hygiene monitoring, life safety reviews, incident investigations, as assigned.
- Reviews processes, facilities, procedures and management of change documents to assure conformance to recognized California & National EHS regulations, standards and guidelines.
- Provides support to client groups in completing injury/illness analysis, training, self-assessments and addressing specific EHS concerns as they are raised.
- Utilizing knowledge of California EHS regulations and their applicability, develops EHS procedures, guidelines and training programs as assigned.
- Provides leadership to formation and sustained performance of action oriented EHS committees.
- Assure completion of all regulatory submissions, notifications, etc. required to maintain compliance with federal, state, and local EHS requirements as assigned.
- Experience with EHS agency inspections and regulatory advocacy.
Required:
Bachelor’s Degree required, concentration in Safety or Environmental related technical discipline preferred.
5-10 years applied professional EHS work experience. Advanced level of proficiency in the areas of environmental compliance, occupational and process safety, critical thinking, and communication skills. Basic level of skill with project management and problem solving.
Preferred:
Relevant professional certification(s) preferred including P.E., CSP and/or CIH.
Experience navigating California specific OSHA, air emissions reporting/permitting, and hazardous waste requirements.
Knowledge of Biosafety Programs
