POSITION SUMMARY:

The Director of Physician Talent Management will be responsible for recruitment and retention of physicians and advanced practice providers, promotion of physician-faculty relations, and serve as a business adviser to the hospital and system leadership regarding employment arrangements. The director will oversee the entire recruitment function from posting through onboarding, provide organizational leadership, operational talent and strategic expertise. This position reports to the Chief Medical Officer of WVU Hospitals and University Health Associates (Faculty Practice Plan).

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:

  1. Bachelor s degree in human resources, industrial relations, business administration, healthcare administration, communications, psychology, organizational development or related field.

EXPERIENCE:

  1. At least five (5) years of progressive Human Resources or Physician/Provider Recruitment and/or related field experience.
  2. At least five (5) years of prior leadership/people management experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:

  1. Master s degree in human resources, industrial relations, business administration, healthcare administration, communications, psychology, organizational development or related field.
  2. Fellow of the Association of Staff Physician Recruiters (FASPR)/Certified Physician/Provider Recruitment Professional (CPRP).
  3. Certification as a Professional Human Resources (PHR), Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR), SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, Certified Strategic Work Force Planner (SWP), Certified Employee Retention Profession (CERP) and/or Certified Diversity Professional.

EXPERIENCE:

  1. Five (5) years of prior leadership/people management experience in healthcare.

  1. Develops, manages and coordinates a comprehensive physician/provider recruitment and retention program, and maintains knowledge of current and emerging recruitment processes within the industry.
  2. Works with senior management staff and physicians to develop, implement and update strategies and opportunities for growth and improvement to support the organization s mission.
  3. Develops recruitment strategies and processes that include a focus on engagement, retention and productivity.
  4. Develops and delivers training programs for physician leaders who participate in recruiting activities to improve hiring effectiveness, workforce planning & retention.
  5. Builds partnerships with directors, managers, administrators, and system leadership to assist them in carrying out their responsibilities on physician recruitment matters.
  6. Advises administrators and hospital executives in matters related to physician and faculty recruitment.
  7. Collaborates with leadership on identifying needs, assessing candidates, and meeting the goals of the organization.
  8. Attracts and retains physicians; maintains high level of physician satisfaction.
  9. Assists with Health System physician recruitment initiatives (e.g., job fairs, negotiation of recruitment vendor contracts, Boar of Medicine lobbying, marketing and branding recruitment materials); leads System recruitment committee and meetings.
  10. Develops and implements marketing strategies in conjunction with the hospital marketing department.
  11. Coordinates contracts with external recruitment firms as needed
  12. Ensures early and timely contact and screening of candidates. Arranges and hosts virtual and on-site physician recruitment visits.
  13. Coordinates relocation issues with candidates.
  14. Arranges pre-screening of candidate background checks and pre-employment physicals in cooperation with credentialing department.
  15. Is responsible for onboarding activities of physicians in coordination with Human Resources, medical and financial credentialing.
  16. Provides oversight and ensures compliance with all employment regulatory and legal requirements.
  17. Leads immigration recruitment efforts, visa sponsorship, J-1 waivers, and maintains knowledge of State and Federal immigration requirements and laws.
  18. Develops strong leadership and positive rapport with physicians to nurture medical staff relationships and drive physician engagement.
  19. Works with the CMO and the management team in achieving its goals for quality care, patient, physician and employee satisfaction, and continued financial stability.
  20. Develops and maintains Physician Talent Management Office annual budget, negotiates contracts, and approves all invoices.
  21. Completes annual physician recruitment benchmarking report.
  22. Reports out recruitment data and metrics regularly
  23. Mentors, coaches, supervises and develops Physician Talent Management staff.
  24. Is responsible for performance management of staff including performance reviews of assigned staff
  25. Acts as a liaison to the HRIS team to accomplish reporting and HRIS needs for physician recruitment
  26. Reviews and makes recommendations for improvement of policies, procedures, and practices on physician recruitment and retention matters to effect continual improvements in efficiency.
  27. Participates on committees and special projects and seeks additional responsibilities.
  28. Participates in on-going career and other professional development activities.
