Who You'll Work With

You will join our high impact global proposal team in one of our North American office locations. You will join a global team with colleagues located in Amsterdam, Chicago, London, Munich, Paris and Sao Paolo, and report to the Global Proposals Lead.

You'll often work as part of a team which includes consultants and experts in design, media and other disciplines. You will also work with proposal experts, client service teams, visual media and graphics colleagues and client development hubs and help them better respond to competitive proposals and improve their proposal skills and expertise.

You’ll get involved in strategically important discussions as you work with the proposal team and client service teams to write proposals and innovate our approach to supporting and doing proposals. You will help write, develop and maintain proposals and best practices, whilst building your own expertise on the science and art of building client relationships and winning proposals.

What You'll Do

You will help McKinsey win proposals by helping teams develop new, distinctive and innovative approaches to proposals to clearly articulate how McKinsey creates impact for clients.

In general, consultants and client development hubs will be responsible for technical/domain expertise and most process management while you will be responsible for writing clear and compelling materials that will persuade clients to work with McKinsey. As a persuasive writer and editor, you’ll help partners and consultants translate insights on decision makers and competitors into a compelling value proposition and proposal. You’ll write, review and edit proposal documents and materials so that they are creative, compelling and crystal clear. You’ll make our proposals visionary and distinctive by advising on the best media, structure, style, messaging and content. You’ll work nimbly with our teams, helping structure, write and revise sections of the proposal, write answers to RfI and RfQ questionnaires (requests for information/qualifications), provide feedback on overall structure and messaging and write and edit engaging presentation and meeting materials.

You’ll provide guidance and coaching to client service teams on how best to manage the proposal process and effectively and efficiently respond to client requests. You’ll develop storylines and templates to enable contributors and subject matter experts to produce proposal content. You’ll conduct final editing, proofing and delivery of materials to ensure high quality is always maintained. You’ll attend and actively contribute to all kick-off strategy, status, follow-up/debrief and presentation preparation meetings to ensure a consistent story is told from start to finish.

As a creative thought leader, you will raise the game on McKinsey proposals. You’ll work closely with design colleagues to help teams develop creative and effective proposal communication and experiences. You’ll help teams develop and articulate clear, strong value propositions to show how McKinsey is truly different. You’ll be involved in the entire proposal process from start to end. Your presence – through kick-off, proposal submission, rehearsal and debrief – will give you valuable insights that enable teams to develop differentiating stories.

Lastly, as an inspiring proposal champion, you will offer insights and develop differentiating approaches that help us win more competitive proposals. You’ll develop proposal methodologies, tools and guidance that enable us to have impact at scale. You’ll train consultants to continuously improve their proposal skills, understanding and expertise. You’ll help create, develop, innovate and syndicate best practices across the firm, becoming a part of an innovation center that transforms opportunities into client impact.
