Demand for efficient and safe transit is at an all-time high! Clients are investing money to modernize their systems to increase capacity and improve reliability and safety for their systems. Kiewit has a strong portfolio of Rail/Transit design/construction projects and we are working on a number of pursuits around the country, which means adding new staff! Our expertise encompasses all phases of transportation engineering operations - from the initial planning stage through final design, construction, and commissioning. We are adding several Train Control Engineers to our team in the Denver Colorado area and around the country to support our growth in Rail/Transit. In this role, you will be supporting or leading train control system engineering related activities like system design, construction, testing, commissioning and maintenance.

Kiewit Infrastructure Engineering's Design-Build team is driving clients to turn to Kiewit during all stages of design-build projects. Through our integrated design and construction approach, our multi-disciplinary team works together to improve schedule, control costs and minimize risk. **Location**

Our preference is to have the individual located in our Lone Tree Colorado office, but consideration will be made for individuals to work in other locations, with extensive travel to Kiewit offices and project locations required. Travel for extended periods of time to support project implementation will be required.

**Responsibilities**

Support all train control system design engineering related activities through all phases (Proposal, design, construction, testing and commissioning).

Perform complex engineering tasks to support system and subsystem requirement specifications, interface specifications, and test requirements documents.

Prepare engineering documentation including drawings, estimates, specifications, test plans, analyses, and reports required for design, procurement and construction purposes.

Develop the scope of work for train control system engineering tasks, design schedules and budgets for assigned project elements; monitor progress against schedule and budget requirements; and identify and document changes in scope

Assist in determining the applicable scope of work for procurement of materials and equipment, procurement schedules and budgets for assigned project buy outs; monitor progress to maintain those procurements; and interface with procurement and subcontract personnel to facilitate the bid process

Review and Assess system and subsystem technical design and documentation including software to ensure compliance with specifications and standards.

Ensure client criteria and scope is met and that the industry's standard and recommended practice is followed.

Prepare technical reports and documentation of activity for the client and project management. Interface and oversee Subconsultants on the project.

Able to select technology, hardware, software, devices, equipment and/or components to meet performance requirements.

**Qualifications**

Minimum 3 years of progressive work experience and understanding of the following, but not limited to;

Train control system design, construction, testing and commissioning

Train control system maintenance

Rail and transit operation

Design standards and safety regulations

Basic understanding of other subsystems such as communications, supervisory control/ SCADA, traction power, tunnel ventilation, on-board, and auxiliary electrical systems

Intermediate understanding of on-board/ wayside interface

Intermediate understanding of train control technologies such as Automatic Train Control (ATC), Positive Train Control (PTC), and Communications-Based Train Control (CBTC)Systems.

Bachelor's Degree in electrical engineering, systems engineering, I&C Engineering or related field OR equivalent work experience. PE License desirable.

Membership with active participation to professional organizations such as AREMA or APTA is desirable.

Ability to travel up to 50% as business requires.
