Job Description


U.S. Bank is hiring a UX Design Lead / Manager to help support our business transformation to a human centric experience. Specifically, you will be responsible for leading a team designers and coordinate with subject matter experts and practitioners, who report to other UX Design managers and directors, in the related areas of UX research, accessibility, and front-end development.


Serves as Design Lead for product(s) with high profit potential and business criticality. Facilitative leader leveraging Design Thinking methods to guide group collaboration, ideation and customer-centered problem-solving. Ensures we’re creating best-in-class designs, experiences, artifacts and documentation by defining standards, continually evolving and inspiring top quality from team members — all based in solid, customer-obsessed research. Actively leads their core community of practice and improves skills & knowledge by mentoring — including product practitioners outside UX Design. Builds strong relationships with other senior contributors in their product team(s) – including product owner, TOS lead, risk, and the line of business.


Skillset Requirements


Our ideal candidate is a working and facilitative leader who influences their team to deliver best in class product experiences, collaborating cross-functionally to refine and execute elegant designs with compelling user interactions.


In addition, the candidate is known to:


  • Lead teams with patience, customer obsession, insatiable curiosity, a high emotional intelligence and the data-informed decisioning that empowers product design.

  • Create and deliver work of their own.

  • Navigate across an organization with ease and tact.

  • Actively evangelize design by building relationships and participating in cross-functional/cross-organizational working groups.

  • Are well-versed in all aspects the UX design practice (processes, tools, and mechanics) as well as the underlying technology used to express UX and UI under the hood (data, code, and platform ecosystems) and can communicate from a vantage point that is comprehensive and informed by direct experience.


Basic Qualifications


  • Bachelor's degree (preferred emphasis on Service Design, Experience Architecture, or Information Architecture), or equivalent experience

  • Eight or more years of related work experience, such as UX or digital industry, with at least four years of team leadership experience


Preferred Skills/Experience


  • Considerable knowledge of user experience (UX) best practices, interactive design principles, information architecture, and experience architecture; Service Design knowledge a plus

  • Considerable knowledge of design thinking process and framework, and familiarization with workshop and co-creations

  • Experience/familiarity with CSS and responsive design

  • Considerable knowledge of website architecture, interactive design principles, web usability, and online marketing and business needs

  • Experience with user-centered design from concept to delivery

  • Familiar with common design software – Figma, Sketch, etc.

  • Experience working in a cross-channel environment, including desktop/laptop, mobile, devices and brick-and-mortar locations; internal facing systems experience a plus

  • Experience collaborating with large teams

  • Strong communication, facilitation, and presentation skills

  • Ability to problem-solve and work independently
