Job Description:

Are you interested in a career in Product Marketing at a FORTUNE 100 company? As a Product Marketing Consultant, you will be a key contributor and team member in helping to deliver a strong product marketing plan for digital tools and systems within our division. You will be responsible for the development of a product marketing strategy, and creating enticing content. As an experienced marketer, you will bring a unique combination of technical knowledge and business savvy to understand our internal and external audiences to craft compelling messaging and value propositions, develop world-class content, and help our digital product teams succeed.

This position is recognized division-wide as a resourceful and reliable marketing communication resource who acts as the main communication coordinator between all affected groups. Develops strategic marketing communication plans, provides counsel to internal groups and directs work of outside suppliers and vendors to support the marketing strategy.

Project Development: Designs, develops, and produces resource enhancements, tools and marketing communications programs or recommends changes to current ones. This position is responsible for all phases of assigned programs, including budget and usage forecasts.

The incumbent manages the completion of work assignments and coordinates work with others (e.g. Industry teams and PR Partners). Provides consultation and support to Cat dealers, Cat field sales representatives, and internal executive management for operational and project-related activities. Develops and maintains highly effective working relationships with internal customers. Researches, designs, presents, and gains approval of annual communication projects. Develops and delivers other project-related direction and support to division's core resource areas.

Marketing Communications Strategy: The incumbent shall develop a robust communications strategy to support the overall strategy of a product or portfolio. The communications strategy and plans will define Caterpillar's value proposition and reflect the collective positioning of the complete suite of products and services to these customers.

Marketing Material and Promotion: The incumbent shall develop promotional marketing campaigns that support the product value, strategy, and business plan. This includes development of value messaging, foundational marketing resources, external integrated communication strategy, and messaging architecture

Basic Qualifications:
  • Requires a college degree or equivalent experience with 5-8 years of marketing experience
  • Proficiency in the marketing communications discipline.
  • Strong design and operational implementation skills -- this is a doing role!
  • Knowledge of the full Office 365 suite
  • Exceptional writing and communication skills - you will be producing and presenting a lot of content
  • Demonstrated success in working in a team-based, collaborative environment
  • Proven ability to succeed in a fast-paced organization
  • Strong interpersonal skills.

Top Candidates Will Also Have:
  • Broad business background, specific long-term industry knowledge and excellent communication skills.
  • Demonstrated track record of effective B2B messaging development, and successful product launches
  • Excellent human relation, project management and customer service skills - with a proven ability to develop a cooperative work relationship both inside and outside the division.
  • An ability to apply user insights, research, analytics to strategies.
  • Strong presentation skills and examples of Successful Marketing and Communication Strategies with results. Business to Business (B2B) Marketing / Creative Agency experience.
  • Ability to effectively collaborate with people across many different backgrounds and cultures, internally and externally, with the appropriate influence and ability to resolve differences.

The preferred location is Peoria, IL, Chicago, IL, Denver, CO, or Dallas, TX, but remote work within the United States is available for the right candidate.



Travel to a Hub Location quarterly or as needed might be required.

Compensation & Benefits:

Base salary for this role ranges from $104,112 to $156,168 Actual salary will be based on experience. The total rewards package, beyond base salary includes:
