Security Specialist
Under general supervision, this Security Specialist is responsible for implementing RAND security policies and procedures related to information, physical security, and safety. The position will support the emergency preparedness and business continuity program, and ensure compliance with RAND, Department of Defense, and other government agency security regulations. The position will report to the Security Manager, Security, Intelligence & Risk Management.
Duties
Processing visitors, access control, cameras and badges, locks, and background checks
Resolve Security Helpdesk incidents, Segue tasks, JIRA, and other requests from staff
Implement and adhere to established security procedures
Assist with the administration of the RAND Emergency Management Notification System, Business Continuity, and Emergency Response Plans/Exercises
Coordination with all staff, visitors, vendors, and contractor to process and verify visits
Assist with risk and threat assessments
Travel to other RAND offices to assist with inspections and security operations
Accumulate and maintain monthly metrics and statistics
Basic Qualifications
Experience with the National Industrial Security Program Operating Manual (NISPOM) Rule 32 CFR 117 and DoD security rules and regulations
Knowledge of risk and threat assessment methodologies
Excellent customer service skills
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Strong oral and written communication skills
Must be able to pass a background check
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of Intelligence Community Directives
Experience
At least 3 years relevant experience required.
Education
High School Diploma or GED equivalency is required.
BS/BA degree preferred
Security Clearance
Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret U.S. government security clearance
