Join a team that designs, develops, and integrates highly complex systems within Honeywell Aero. You will be integral in creating system solutions that meet the evolving needs of our customers. You will have ownership of systems at every aspect of the systems lifecycle, from the front end of business development through the product end of life. You will work across disciplines within the Power Systems Engineering Electric Power Systems business to drive growth and reach critical business milestones. Provides engineering guidance and technical direction for the Electric Drive Systems team in Torrance, California.

Typically composes technical sections of proposals and trade study white papers, with diagrams and logic to justify the design of motor controllers and inverters for proposed optimal design solutions. Coordinates technical proposal inputs for estimates of motor controller, electric drive systems, and actuation controller work both with the internal team and external departments.

Responsible for the execution and oversight of long-term electric drive systems engineering projects including Electric Propulsion Units (EPUs), Micro Vapor Cycle Systems cooling condenser and compressor fan control, and electric traction drive systems design.

Plans, estimates, and schedules engineering work for assigned projects or relevant subproject segments. Coordinates with resource people managers to ensure the technical adequacy of staff given to projects.

YOU MUST HAVE


  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering
  • Electrical systems design knowledge

  • Advanced degree such as a Masters's degree in Electrical systems, EE, Control Systems, Power Electronics, etc.
  • Expert in the electrical systems development lifecycle of preliminary design, detailed design, qualification, and test
  • Ability to evaluate designs for technical viability, lowest cost, smallest weight, and maximum function.
  • Leadership ability for engineering trade studies to determine the best path forward
  • Authoring white papers, trade secrets, and patents where applicable
  • Led diverse engineering and global teams to meet planned work schedules
  • Expert with technical design for electro-mechanical systems, motor controllers, and electric drives
  • Experience with control systems theory and electrical simulation
  • Adaptability dictated by project changes and resolving design issues that occur on a timely basis
  • Led root cause analysis and design troubleshooting efforts
  • Managing a variety of complicated tasks involving multifunctional engineering groups
  • Making autonomous decisions based on design team and management inputs
  • Significant electrical, mechanical, and systems engineering experience
  • Individuals who are self-motivated and able to work with little supervision, who consistently take the initiative to get things done
  • Staying current with the latest technology and design methods
  • Six Sigma Green Belt preferred
  • Knowledge of the aerospace industry preferred
