Title: Senior Electrification Application Engineer - 90120

Onsite/Remote: Onsite Position

Your Responsibilities

As a Senior Electrification Application Engineer for John Deere located in Cary, NC, you will work on Electrification product engineering across Small Ag & Turf Production systems, define system requirements and then design the system including vehicle integration in support of product line Product Development Process (PDP), Technology Development Process (TDP), and Continuous Improvement (CI), and verify system functional requirements and validate system performance and customer acceptance. You will also
  • Lead electric drive project work in support of product line PDP & TDP and for EL CI.
  • Work with the platform engineers to define and develop the engineering requirements of electric drive systems, including design life and duty cycle, and gains approval of requirements.
  • Develop the system design as a combination of power generation, batteries, and actuators with sensing, communication, and power distribution. Then integrates the system into the vehicle.
  • Conduct functional test planning for lab and vehicle, execution of plan for verification of performance.

What Skills You Need
  • 5 or more years of technical experience relating to the development (design and/or test) of electric drive systems
  • 7 or more years of product engineering experience
  • 5 or more years of product design experience
  • 2 or more years of experience leading technical projects
  • Demonstrated ability as a technical lead for projects meeting project performance, schedule, and financial goals while using formal product development processes
  • Willingness to travel up to 25%
What Makes You Stand Out
  • Demonstrated ability to design electric drive systems achieving vehicle program technical and financial goals in a production environment. Key focus on requirements definition and documentation.
  • Demonstrated ability to verify electric drive components and systems including test planning, test setup, test execution, and test documentation. Scope includes functional performance, environmental qualification, certification, component reliability, and system durability
  • Strong practical experience in electric drive technology product application
  • Experience with component development of electric machines or power electronics or alternators or batteries or power harnesses
  • Experience with vehicle engineering (examples include: agriculture, construction, automotive, recreation, mining)
  • Advanced technical degree in electric drive field
Education

Ideally, you will have a degree or equivalent related work experience in the following:
  • Bachelors degree in Engineering with emphasis on power conversion, electric machines, power electronics, electric drive control, and/or similar technologies or Bachelors degree in Engineering with equivalent work experience
