The Propulsion Engineering group is hiring for a Principal/Senior Principal Propulsion Engineer professional at our Chandler, AZ location.

Position Overview

Perform analysis, design, or test of one or more moderately complex materials (including energetics), structural components, and control systems for propulsion systems. Apply engineering principles, industry standards, company standards and customer requirements to develop propulsion systems (electric, solid/liquid fuel rocket, air-breathing, thrusters) for application in launch vehicles, missile systems, and space mission systems. Coordinate strategy for developing and leveraging multi-disciplinary design, optimization, and analysis processes to support mission requirements. Define and coordinate the conduct of testing required to evaluate design work.

Essential Functions

Perform engineering duties on ordnance, pneumatic and/or solid rocket motor hardware to include component and system design, integration, and testing.

Perform Acceptance and Qualification Testing to include environmental, non-destructive, and function testing.

Perform complex engineering design, development, and analysis of components and propulsion systems.

Conduct trade studies and evaluate alternative designs.

Based on broadly defined problems, study basic design concepts and criteria for complex materials, components, or functional systems and apply the engineering principles involved to develop new designs.

Anticipate customer needs and find innovative ways to provide for those needs.

Originate and develop constructive ideas. Consistently look for ways to modify or change existing methods or processes to improve outcomes.

Determine engineering tasks required for project planning and execution. Analyze project requirements and develop detailed planning, conceptual designs, and risk analysis.

Interact with internal and external customers. Assist the customer in defining system requirements and in the generation of specifications for products or sub systems.

Develop and present materials for project related briefings including design reviews to be given to internal and external customers.

Support new business and prepare proposal material.

This requisition may be filled at either a Principal level 3 or Senior Principal 4

Principal 3

Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) with 5 years of related engineering experience; OR a Master's degree in STEM with 3 years of related engineering experience, or a PhD in STEM with 0 years of experience

Ability to obtain DoD Secret security clearance

Experience with vehicle trajectory design and customer provided requirements analysis in a flight software in simulation environment

Senior Principal 4

Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) with 9 years of related engineering experience; OR a Master's degree in STEM with 7 years of related engineering experience, or a PhD in STEM with 4 years of experience

Ability to obtain DoD Secret security clearance

Experience with vehicle trajectory design and customer provided requirements analysis in a flight software in simulation environment

Experience Required

Demonstrated experience performing ordnance, pneumatic or motor product development and test

Candidate must have a minimum of five years of related experience (equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered)

Ability to travel 10%

U.S. Citizenship is required

Preferred Experience

Ability to obtain a Security clearance (SECRET or higher) which generally requires US Citizenship as a prerequisite

Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering degree preferred

Ordnance, pneumatic, or motor testing

Salary Range: $87,000 USD - $131,400 USD

Salary Range 2: $108,600 USD - $163,000 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
