\r\nJoin Our Team!\r\nDNREC is Now Offering Sign-on Bonuses for Engineers!\r\nThe Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control (DNREC) recognizes its Engineers are a highly valued resource and play a critical role in protecting public health and the environment. �For that reason, we are now providing monetary recruitment incentives to new DNREC Engineers in accordance to our Recruitment Program Policy and Procedures.\r\nThe program provides recruitment incentives as follows:\r\nSign-On Bonus– Incentives are based on the position classification:\r\n\r\n $2,000 Engineer I \r\n $3,000 Engineer II \r\n $4,000 Engineer III \r\n $5,000 Engineer IV \r\n\r\nIncentives are paid in two installments. One installment after three months of employment and the second installment after eighteen months from the initial date of employment. �New employees accepting this recruitment bonus must commit to two consecutive years of employment with DNREC in the Engineer I-IV series. �Must be a new hire to the State of Delaware or new to the Engineer classification series within the State of Delaware\r\nNOTE: You will receive more information during the hiring process. Summary Statement

The Division of Air Quality oversees regulations and permits governing the control of air pollution, from all sources in the state, to ensure that Delaware’s air meets State and Federal Air Quality Standards created to protect public health and the environment. The Division provides guidance and technical assistance to regulated businesses and facilities. � \r\n\r\nClick here for more information about Air Quality Permitting and Regulation.\r\n\r\nThe tasks and responsibilities of this position are the permitting and compliance work for minor and major facilities in the State of Delaware.� Air permits authorize the construction and operation of equipment at facilities. Compliance work ensures that businesses are operating in accordance with the Federal and State regulations as well as in a responsible manner that is protective of the air quality of the State of Delaware. \r\n

Essential Functions

Essential functions are fundamental, core functions common to all positions in the class series and are not intended to be an exhaustive list of all job duties for any one position in the class.� Since class specifications are descriptive and not restrictive, incumbents can complete job duties of similar kind not specifically listed here.\r\n\r\n Drafts, develops and modifies engineering designs, plans and specifications. \r\n � \r\n Reviews permit applications, blueprints and/or designs prepared by others to ensure compliance with specifications and regulations. \r\n � \r\n Applies the principles and theories of science and mathematics to research and develop solutions to technical problems. \r\n � \r\n Plans and conducts field studies, surveys, research and development projects, inspections and/or investigations to collect data and ensure conformance to state/federal laws and regulations. \r\n � \r\n Tests or evaluates materials, equipment, systems and facilities. \r\n � \r\n Plans and coordinates engineering projects.\r\n � \r\n Reviews, analyzes and reports on the status of projects and/or regulatory conformance.\r\n � \r\n Develops cost estimates for project time and materials.\r\n � \r\n Provides technical guidance and training to technical staff. \r\n\r\n

Job Requirements

JOB REQUIREMENTS for Engineer II \r\nApplicants must have education, training and/or experience demonstrating competence in each of the following areas:\r\n\r\n Possession of a Bachelors degree or higher�in Civil, Environmental, Mechanical, Chemical� OR official notice of passing the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) examination in Civil, Environmental, Mechanical, Chemical administered by the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying (NCEES). \r\n At least one year experience in Civil, Environmental, Mechanical, Chemical OR�possession of a�Masters degree or higher in Civil, Environmental, Mechanical, Chemical. \r\n \r\n\r\n
