Under the direction of the compensation manager the compensation project manager will work on special projects as assigned by compensation manager; and will organize, manage, and complete assigned projects on time, to specifications and with accuracy and efficiency. Works with compensation manager to develop and implement compensation initiatives and special projects. This role will provide daily support to compensation manager in meeting goals, completing/leading projects and mentoring compensation staff. The compensation project manager is responsible for the overall maintenance of job descriptions/profiles, survey data and participation, developing/presenting training sessions related to compensation programs, and oversight of department audits. Compensation project manager will work on special projects as assigned by compensation manager. Supports manager in meeting goals, completing/leading projects and mentoring Compensation staff.



1. Assists the compensation manager with the implementation and administration of compensation programs and projects. Ensures compliance with federal, state and local compensation laws and regulations related to wages, general compensation, re-organizations, wage and hour regulations and compensation policies.



2. Works with compensation manager and other areas within Human Resources regarding complex compensation issues related to career ladder promotional increases, internal equity issues, and special pay programs. Collaborates with Human Resources to identify and resolve recruitment and retention issues. Supports and guides compensation staff on issues related to their areas.



3. Identifies discrepancies, researches reasons for differences, makes recommendations for changes (including grade, title, job description, and pay).Develops techniques for compiling, preparing and presenting data.



4. Oversees the participation in salary surveys and monitors salary survey data to ensure compensation objectives are achieved. Contributes organizational data to, and analyzes results of, compensation surveys. As survey results are received, updates survey shared drive with the survey results. Completes ad- hoc surveys as required and initiates ad-hoc surveys as needed. Conducts thorough market analyses and related recommendations annually.



5. Develops and facilitates training programs for leadership and HR Team members to enhance the general understanding of compensation, regulations, federal and state laws and general compensation principles. Identifies areas and/or leadership or HR team members who may benefit from training programs. Guides compensation team members on appropriate training methods and presentations and mentors team members on presentation skill development.



6. Resolves questions and issues relating to policy as appropriate in Manager's absence. May delegate work and assignments to team members based on expertise, work experience, and time constraints.



7. Develops complex spreadsheets, costing analyses, and various other analytical materials in support of role.



8. Facilitates and/or partners on committees as requested.



9. Conducts cost analysis, estimating expected costs for the project. Facilitates and/or partners on committees as requested.



10. Assists compensation manager with coordinating changes for improvement of workflow. Conducts cost analysis, estimating expected costs for the project.



11. Conducts periodic audits to ensure compliance with laws, policies and procedures.



12. Performs other related duties as assigned .

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and ability to interpret and communicate data.
