Detailed Description

Entry level position where tasks are broad in nature where some independent judgment and discretion are required. Strong initiative is required to maintain process workflow and logistics. Strong organizing skills required to maintain work efficiency. Decisions/actions may have an impact on the department's/division s goals. Assignments are received in the form of results expected. Builds strong internal and external relationships that require exchanging information and providing explanations in a problem solving capacity. Interfaces regularly with both, Manufacturing and Quality Engineers, along with manufacturing (operations) employees. Learn the principles of machining, post machine processing, diagnostics, metrology and other manufacturing related processes as a step towards a career in Engineering.

Performs tasks such as, but not limited to, the following:
  • With guidance from manufacturing engineers, may perform failure analysis, verification and collection of non-conformance data, initiates RCCA/CAR as needed.
  • Learn to work with product specifications and mechanical drawings; assess and prescribe repairs and/or modification of product(s).
  • Interacts with internal customers to resolve problems and increase the quality and yield of the product data release process.
  • Interface with procurement and manufacturing personnel.
  • May assess simple assemblies or products to ensure they conform to their specifications.
  • Responsible for timely and accurate data, report generation, and problem review with manufacturing teams.
  • Logistics (moving proving product back/forth about the Mfg floor).
  • May also support Manufacturing Engineering in the design and implementation of manufacturing systems and processes to respond to fluctuations in customer demands.
Knowledge/Skills/Competencies
  • Some understanding of mechanical assembly and fabrication procedures.
  • Good organization skills.
  • Computer literacy, MS Office Suite.
  • Excellent problem identification skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret product specifications and mechanical drawings.
  • Ability to use hand and power tools required as needed.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with a variety of internal customers.
Physical Demands
  • Duties of the position are performed in a manufacturing environment with frequent exposure to noise, dust, chemicals, operating machinery, temperature extremes, hazardous substances, etc.
  • Duties require extended periods of sustained visual concentration on detailed documentation and product assemblies.
  • Duties of the position require periodic light physical effort and exertion including prolonged repetitive motions, sitting in confined workspaces, using tools and equipment, and moving and handling materials.
  • Will be trained and certified to operate a forklift to be used as needed.
  • Duties may require periodic manual effort including lifting of objects up to 30 pounds.

0 - 3 years relevant experience.

Typical Education

High school diploma and additional courses after high school, or an equivalent combination of education and experience and a commitment towards further / additional education
