Job Summary:

The position of Director of Generative AI at Capital One requires someone with a firm grasp of AI platform development. The ideal candidate should be prepared to guide a team of AI engineers and applied scientists as they work towards perfecting training pipelines, deploying large ML models, and building scalable infrastructure within a public cloud environment. Job Duties and Responsibilities:

• Head a group of engineers and applied scientists involved in building the fundamental components of the Generative Artificial Intelligence platform.
• Cloud service providers such as Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Microsoft Azure offer various tools and services to help build and manage distributed training clusters.
• It is important to design and implement infrastructure that can withstand faults and failures when supporting extended training tasks.
• Implementing a high-performance architecture that can handle large volumes of data inputs and outputs.
• Looking to create more value for our users, we are developing software development kits (SDKs) and application programming interfaces (APIs), which will help users in creating anomaly/fraud detection systems and information retrieval setups on our Gen AI platform.

Qualifications and Experience:

• An undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field is a prerequisite.
• With seven years of experience under my belt in designing and constructing ML systems on a large scale, I bring a wealth of practical skills and proficiency to the table.
• As someone who has been developing AI/ML algorithms for over six years, I possess the coding skills required for this demanding field, utilizing languages such as Python and C/C++.
• A successful team leader with 5 years or more of experience managing teams comprising of engineers and applied scientists.
• I possess extensive experience of three years in the ML field whereby I have proficiently demonstrated my competency in using open-source technology and public cloud for seamless ML development.

• A Master’s or a PhD in Computer Science or a related technical area can equip you with the advanced knowledge and skills needed to solve complex problems and tackle sophisticated challenges.
• Possesses a strong background in machine learning and has expertise in training and deploying deep neural nets and/or transformer models at scale.
• Examine research publications featured in distinguished peer-reviewed conferences or industry-acclaimed open-source contributions.
• Well-versed in utilizing machine learning frameworks like TensorFlow, PyTorch, Lightning, and Mosaic ML on large-scale GPU clusters. Familiar with their advanced features and implementation for executing complex machine learning algorithms.
• The ability to iterate efficiently in a quickly-shifting landscape.
• Adept in working with popular public cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Skill in managing and deploying intricate neural network structures to achieve optimal performance in mission-critical production scenarios.
