We're looking for an experienced Territory Sales Manager with strong technical abilities to join our team. Reporting to the Western Regional Field Sales Team Leader, you'll be responsible for the sales activities of MSA, General Monitors (GM), SMC branded fixed gas and flame detection (FGFD) products within the Gulf Coast sales region. The position will primarily focus on selling into EPC's, integrators, and corporate accounts within the oil and gas market. This is a team selling position within a well-established team. Responsibilities

Description of duties and responsibilities:

  • Increase sales of MSA, GM and SMC Branded FGFD products at corporate oil and gas engineering, integrators, OEM's and EPC firms.
  • Identify and target key engineering and integrator accounts in the Greater Houston Market.
  • Derive creative, cost-effective product solutions for our customers.
  • Provide customers with both technical and application information through product demonstrations and seminars.
  • Become familiar with and remain proficient on all product lines within the FGFD product group, and eventually serve as product expert or resource.
  • Become familiar with and remain proficient on the features and benefits of MSA and GM products as well as those of competitors to leverage competitive differences to gain sales advantage.
  • Spend 10% of time training/working with permanent instrument manufacturers' representatives and sales team members in the region.
  • Focus 90% of selling time on end users/decision makers at major oil and gas corporate engineering, integrators and EPC firms.
  • Coordinate and prioritize work for effective time and territory management.
  • Interface extensively with operations, customer service, sales, marketing and field service organizations, and with external customers.
  • Provide a high level of customer satisfaction and build customer loyalty within territory for repeat business and revenue growth.
Qualifications

Special knowledge, skills and abilities required:

  • Demonstrated selling and technical skills, including ability to leverage channel pricing strategies.
  • Proven ability to prospect and win new customers.
  • Proven prior experience selling into engineering firms in the Houston, TX market place
  • Proven ability to organize and present product and demonstrations to large groups.
  • Proven planning and organizational skills, with the ability to be both a self-starter as well as work compatibly within a team.
  • Demonstrated capabilities of exceeding sales and profitability goals in seeking out new users for MSA/GM products.
  • Strong organization, communication (including written and verbal technical and non-technical), interpersonal and management skills.
  • Creative problem-solving with a customer-based perspective.
  • Willingness to do 10-20% overnight travel within the assigned sales territory.

Education and experience required:

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • This position is available at three different career levels based upon experience, education, etc:
    • Level one: 4 years sales experience - any industry.
    • Level two: 5 years sales experience - any industry.
    • Level three: 6 years industrial sales experience.
  • Masters degree in related field may be substituted for up to two years of relevant work experience.

Preferred:

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline or educational academic equivalent.
  • Experience managing/selling through manufacturer representatives.
  • Relevant sales experience in industrial instrumentation or related products in an industrial market
