Position Summary

The Software Quality Assurance Principal Engineer defines, promotes, and drives the use of Quality Tools, Standards, and Processes for the Outcomes and Network Product development activities. Will lead continuous improvements, capitalizes knowledge and ensures, verifies content of PLC deliverables and best Quality practices.

This Principal Engineer would be a leader in the quality assurance segment with an advanced understanding of the discipline to manage projects, guide team members, and influence organizational strategy.

Ensuring a software program meets quality goals, including support of Critical Parameters, supporting methodology to achieve goals via a Quality Assurance Plan, and tracking program quality via appropriate metrics.

Activities can include quality planning, quality reviews, process tailoring, metrics, verification of compliance to standards and procedures, and supporting change management.

Duties and Responsibilities

Owns and Promote Design Excellence, Quality Culture and Tools

  • Enforces software quality standards in SDLC for agile, dev-ops and waterfall models.
  • Ensure Product Development teams alignment with the global Built In quality Tools experts (Design Reviews, Reliability, DFMEA, validation, best practices, Requirements Management )
  • Drive Projects Quality
  • Assess Project deliverables content, gates passing, quality level versus expectations for R&D deliverables
  • Drive risks assessment and recommendations based on audits results and projects results, coordinate audit and or corrective action plans

Interface with the Quality and Itron organization

  • Ensure the quality network is properly informed about the projects and the quality expectations
  • Provides and communicates metric performance on Software Quality to the organization
  • Develop software quality tools and culture within the organization with the development of processes and tools to improve software quality

Direct Reports

None, but will need work to collaboratively with Quality, Delivery and Product development Network

Education:

  • BS in Computer Science or Information Technologies
  • MS in Software Engineering highly desirable

Skills:

  • Software Quality Assurance experience preferred, experience with Software Development Life Cycle
  • Logical problem solving expert, able to distinguish when external support is needed
  • Good communicator, team orientation, able to value to the teams the quality role
  • Knowledgeable of relevant Quality Tools and statistics, Expert in S/DFMEA tool and leadership
  • Understands software quality standards and has prior experience in defining quality for SW and System products.
  • Has prior experience quality audits and code quality tools and practices.
  • Has experience and practices in Metrics and continues improvement process. building prediction models.
  • Overall familiarity of software and systems product tools used in product development (VSTS, Jira, Sonar Qube, whitesource, fortify, .)
  • Knowledge of reliability, capability, robustness
