The Boeing Global Services (BGS) Distribution Services Business Development organization has an exciting opportunity for a Lead Software Developer (Level 4) to develop analytical application systems which drive strategic growth opportunities. Distribution Services Business Development (BD) strives to be the growth engine that identifies and unlocks new opportunities to create long-term value for Boeing and our customers. The BD group has two primary roles: first, to build a platform agnostic Market Analysis & Competitive Intelligence Center of Excellence that enables informed and value-add decision-making; and second, to identify, prioritize, and execute new product and services opportunities that drive profitable growth for the Distribution Services business. The selected developer will develop and sustain exciting software products that truly impact the business.

This position has been identified as a virtual opportunity and does not require applicants to live in Englewood, CO.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Performs the design, program, test, implementation and documentation of complex computing applications and software i.e. web application(s) and APIs

  • Collaborate with product managers, product owners, technical team members, business stakeholders, and designers to implement enhancements to the applications. Perform analysis of end user processes to define application requirements.

  • Writes and compiles complex code based on documented design or designs application architecture that integrates application software and delivery subsystems for specific applications. Modifies or upgrades complex applications to maintain functionality and performance. Identifies and recommends improvements.

  • Performs design review meetings to assist in the software design process. Develops software solutions to meet design specifications utilizing standard methodologies and tools. Performs unit testing to validate software meets design specifications.

  • Develops and manages test plans and procedures to verify that the solution meets the requirements. Identifies and dispositions defects as required. Assists in validating discrepancies and issues. Assists in the development and execution of implementation plans.

  • Ability to understand the big picture and the inter-relationships of all positions and activities in the system, including the impact of changes in one area on another area. This includes the ability to see and understand the inter-relationships between components of systems and plans, anticipate future events, and apply the principles of systems thinking to accelerate performance.

  • Ensure that non-functional requirements such as security, performance, maintainability, scalability, usability, and reliability are being considered when architecting solutions.

  • Contribute to the ongoing learning and success of the team, and the company, by sharing knowledge through mentorship, collaboration, and aiding in the documentation.

  • Keep job knowledge up-to-date by studying new development tools, programming techniques, and computing equipment; participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal and professional networks; participating in professional organizations.

  • Ability to develop a code base that is consumable at the business user/objective level and enables strategic decision making

  • Minimal travel will be required for this position (<10%)

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • 1-3 years experience in the application of design languages in created an intuitive User Interface/ Experience

  • 3-5 years experience designing and developing software using Python, C/C++, C# and/or Java

  • Strong DevOps experience (Git, Jenkins, or other CI/CD tools).

  • 3-5 years experience with Commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) based systems architecture.

  • Strong knowledge of Software and Test Development Lifecycle (SDLC)

Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelors of Science degree or higher in one of the following disciplines Computer Science, Engineering, or Math

  • Experience working in an Agile and/or SAFe environment.

  • Ability to work with cross-functional team support (Deployments and Break/Fixes)

  • Hands-on experience on cloud technologies such as Pivotal Cloud Foundry (preferred)

  • Database technologies Oracle, Teradata, SQL (preferred)

  • Front-end web development technologies - HTML/CSS, JQuery, Javascript, JQuery, Vue (preferred)

  • Strong communication skills, willingness to adopt a user-centered mindset

  • Knowledge of complex supply chain operations within aerospace or other industrials

  • Willingness to work in a manufacturing environment to ensure the success of the process and software

Education/Experience:

  • Typically 6 or more years related work experience or relevant military experience. Advanced degree (e.g. Bachelor, Master, etc.) preferred, but not required.

Summary pay range: 113,900 - 164,500.
