The Senior Director, Institutional Giving & Philanthropy reports to the Vice President, Strategic Initiatives. This role is primarily responsible for foundation and philanthropic giving, providing project management to advance UWNYC’s strategic fundraising priorities, and obtaining catalytic revenue for new impact initiatives from new foundation and philanthropic relationships.
The Senior Director, Institutional Giving & Philanthropy will be responsible for drafting thoughtful, compelling grant proposals for major institutional opportunities, working collaboratively with Resource Development staff in crafting corporate foundation proposals, and working collaboratively with program staff to obtain data and monitor the impact of programs. S/he will also be responsible for tracking deadlines, entering data, and reporting results for all foundation giving, as well as identifying and researching new prospective funders as appropriate. S/he will assist the Strategic Initiatives and Resource Development team in the development of external-facing proposals and materials for foundation and philanthropic funders. This role works specifically with leaders and team members cross-departmentally and relies on expert and consistent communication to execute cross-functional proposals and projects in a timely manner.
The successful candidate will be a strong project manager and writer, who is extremely organized and highly motivated. S/he must be comfortable and confident working with external organizations and donors. S/he should be connected to United Way’s mission and inspired to enhance one of the country’s best-known nonprofit brands. S/he must be passionate about racial equity and social justice and motivated to break down racial inequities and barriers for low-income communities of color across NYC.
