Piano Bank–acoustic piano donation and placement program for individuals, families, and public spaces
Harmony Hub–free and low cost music education classes for marginalized communities

Position Summary:
The Development Manager is an entry level position focused on nonprofit fundraising and development. The ideal candidate brings with them strong written and verbal communication skills, an ability to plan strategically and holistically, and a sense of joy towards their work. This employee works often with the Executive Director (ED) to determine and execute fundraising priorities and goals while also collaborating with other team members to gather and tell programming stories for the purpose of fundraising.

Employee Responsibilities
Development & Fundraising (60%)
Development Planning
- Support the ED with implementing a development plan and strategy to increase individual giving
- Participate in aspects of budgeting and forecasting the growth of the organization through philanthropy
- Plan and execute funding opportunities and events (annual appeal, GivingTuesday, gala, etc.)
Donor Development & Relations
- In collaboration with the ED and board, identify and cultivate individual and corporate donors
- Perform prospect research and evaluation on individuals to diversify our funding sources
- Demonstrate and create processes for showing gratitude in timely, appropriate, and delightful ways
Grant Writing
- In collaboration with the ED, prepare and manage about 40 grant proposals and reports each year
- Perform prospect research on foundations and public funds related to Mundi Project programming
- Make, and in some cases attend, appointments with/for ED with foundation officers and other prospects
Community Engagement & Storytelling (30%)
Community Engagement
- In collaboration with other team members, represent Mundi Project at assigned events. On site duties will be determined according to the event the employee attends. Weekend/evening hours may be needed.
- Identify and utilize creative methods for gathering and telling stories from program participants
- Assist with website and social media maintenance to present the most current information around fundraising campaigns and events to the public.
Team and Organizational Responsibilities (10%)
Weekly Meetings
- Team and 1-on-1 Meetings (in-person): Attend and collaborate with the team to delineate and follow up on action items to ensure the smooth operations of our programs. Meet 1-on-1 with the Executive Director to provide weekly updates, delineate development tasks, and plan fundraising calendar.
Desired Qualifications & Abilities
Education level
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in communications, nonprofit leadership, arts administration, music, or other relevant field.
Language
- Bilingual English/Spanish proficiency in writing, reading, and speaking (not required, but a plus)
Field Experience
- Direct experience in fundraising/development is not a requirement; an individual with the key employee attributes and willingness to grow/learn in field knowledge will be successful in this position.
Multicultural Experience
- Previous work experience with and an understanding of the lived experiences of children, adults, and families of historically marginalized communities is necessary.
