The Field Reimbursement Manager (FRM) proactively provides education and support to appropriate providers and their offices/staff on reimbursement programs for designated therapeutic products in their defined geography / aligned accounts. This role serves as the key contact and lead for reimbursement and access support-related matters and are responsible for being the local market access expert on payer, policy and processes and navigating systems and/or universities to support patients. Additionally, the FRM will analyze reimbursement and access issues and serve as the local access and reimbursement resource for field sales force personnel and region management. The FRM will need to coordinate and communicate cross functionally within Novartis Pharmaceuticals Corporation (NPC) (i.e., Field Sales, Marketing, Market Access, Public Affairs, State & Government Affairs, Trade, Specialty Pharmacy Account Management and applicable third-party affiliates). Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: Provide live face-to-face and virtual engagements, using approved tools, to support and address questions about coverage requirements and educating physician office staff on the use of the patient assistance programs and call center support services, including web-based provider programs. Serve as payer expert for defined geography and proactively communicates changes to key stakeholders in a timely manner. Maintain and grow knowledge of national, regional, local and account market dynamics including coverage and coding Identifies market access trends from local, regional or national payers in territory, and partners with purpose internally to enable appropriate patient access and/or externally to support patient pull-through. Maintain and grow knowledge of hub and specialty pharmacy channels to improve practice and patient support Offer assistance from prescriber decision through to access, supporting the entire Reimbursement journey from start form submission through payer prior authorization to appeals/denials requirements procedures and forms. Reviewing patient-specific information in cases where the site has specifically requested the assistance and patient health information is available in resolving any issues or coverage challenges Adapts and pivots to manage change and complexity: agility to flex when markets, policies and dynamics change; proactive and reactive managing through conflict; navigates complexity of accounts and patient journey Work with internal partners to build strategic patient access and reimbursement account plans and review franchise, market access, and PSS business plans and objectives. Coordinating with other patient support service program representatives and with the field sales force, if necessary. Collaborate with Area Reimbursement Lead (ARL) appropriately to share insights into customer needs, potential barriers and payer issues/opportunities for product access Effective account management: uncovering customer insights through effective questioning; critical thinking and problem solving; disseminating data and information to partners. Under guidance of the RD, provide reimbursement insights to local field teams, and Novartis home office functions as needed. This position can be based remotely near Chicago. Advanced degree preferred. Experience: Minimum three years' experience in public or private third-party reimbursement arena or pharmaceutical industry in managed care, clinical support, or sales. Experience with specialty products acquired through Specialty Pharmacy networks Experience with coding, billing and in office support programs Prior account management experience or prior experience with complex accounts (Payer landscape, high patient volume, large systems). Knowledge of Managed Care, Government, and Federal payer sectors, as well as Integrated Delivery Network/Integrated Health Systems a plus. Specialty pharmacy experience required (ability to teach an office the entire process from script to injection). Ability to operate as a "team player" in collaborating with multiple sales representatives, sales leadership, and internal colleagues to reach common goals Ability to travel and cover large multistate geography territories, at least 50% travel required, based on geography and territory/targeting make up.
