Job Summary:

Raytheon Missiles and Defense (RMD) is seeking a Field Engineer for support and coordination for the Phalanx Close in Weapon System (CIWS) including: Training, Installation, Shipyard Maintenance, Light Off and Check Out (LOCO), Hardware Acceptance Tests (HATs), Shipboard Acceptance Trials (SATs), shore/ship based repair and remote technical assistance to Taiwan and other international customers. Additionally, when not in the field, the candidate will provide program planning support and act as a company liaison with the Taiwan government and Taiwan Industry Partners.

Responsibilities to Anticipate:

  • Extensive CIWS product line experience consisting primarily of hands-on maintenance and fault isolation but includes system operation. Must be capable of leading on-the-job or formal CIWS maintenance and operations training.

  • Customer service skills, including written and oral communications are a must as it is necessary to create, develop, document, and convey new installation and training schedules, inventory spreadsheets or slides for field work, training, PMR or Technical Reviews.

  • Perform in the field worldwide and within Taiwan customer organizations with a minimum of or no direct supervision.

  • Perform as a team member or leader in multi-organizational, cross-functional teams and adapt readily to evolving work environments and requirements.

  • Willing to learn and obtain the latest technical and professional skills available.

  • A thorough understanding of export laws and authorizations as they apply to assigned tasks is required.


Extensive travel will be required; up to 100% to include travel in Taiwan, other international destinations and periodically in the U.S.


This is a 5/40 work schedule.

Qualifications You Must Have:


Typically Requires:
Bachelor's Degree and 5 years of relevant experience OR Associates degree and 7 years of related experience. In absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience is required.


Employment Experience:

  • Field engineering experience

  • Experience equipment and technical documentation for all CIWS Blocks and Baselines.

  • An active and in-scope Secret US Security Clearance


Qualifications We Value:


  • Advanced knowledge of Block 1 Baseline 2 CIWS

  • An understanding of and experience with Raytheon, NCSIST, and Taiwan Navy Inspection Team and other Taiwan government technical support agencies' processes

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to work with team members

  • Writing technical documents

  • An understanding of the use of the Technical Data Package (drawings, parts lists, interface control documents, and electrical schematics)

  • Familiarity with shipyard operations and procedures

  • Experience working with US and Foreign Military programs

  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills

  • System thinking
