Caterpillar is looking for candidates that want to build a career. This is a rare opportunity to join the Caterpillar Athens team as a direct hire. Openings available on 1st or 2nd shift.

Position includes a wage of $16/hour, quarterly goal sharing program and a comprehensive benefit program that begins on Day ONE . 2nd shift positions start at $17.28/hour (includes 8% night shift premium). Employment includes a 2-week training program.

While working at Caterpillar Inc., you will work in an environment that supports excellence. You will lead your team in efforts to support continuous improvement. This position works under general supervision to assemble/test parts, components, or systems for excavators and tractors according to the specified work orders. This position is for the assembly line at the Athens, GA site.

In this role you may be expected to:

• Follow documented procedures standard work, routings, and blueprints to perform safe and defect free assembly and adjustment of components and prime product.
• Follow and utilize Caterpillar Production System (CPS) principles of 5S, continuous improvement idea reporting, waste elimination, and standard work.
• Seek out paint defects and perform paint touch up as needed.
• Use lifting devices to move heavy components of weights of more than 35 lbs.

Basic Requirements:

• Previous work or volunteer experience (Assembly experience is not required. You will go through a 2-week training program)

Physical Requirements (with or without reasonable accommodation):

• Willing and able to sit or stand for prolonged periods
• Willing and able to perform repetitive operations
• Willing and able to lift up to 35 lbs.

Top Candidates will also have:

• Manufacturing experience
• Parts/product manufacturing assembly experience
• Heavy equipment machine assembly experience
• Caterpillar product knowledge (excavators, tractors, etc.)
• Excellent attendance record
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills

Shift Schedule:

1st Shift: Monday-Thursday, 6 am 4:30 pm

2nd Shift: Monday-Thursday, 5 pm 3:30 am
