Founded in 2013, HEAL (Health, Education, Advocacy, Linkage) Trafficking is the leading non-governmental authority on human trafficking as a health issue. HEAL provides trauma and lived experience-informed and person-centered resources both for individual health care workers as well as larger health centers and systems. Through this multi-level approach, HEAL achieves broad-reaching change and maximizes the potential for life-saving interventions for trafficked persons.

PRIMARY ROLE: HEAL Trafficking is hiring a Chief Executive Officer to be a passionate and experienced leader who oversees all the operations, functions, and activities of HEAL. The position is entrusted with the fulfillment of the mission, vision, and strategic plan of the organization as its highest priority. This is currently a part time role and as the organization grows, it has the potential to become full time.

HOURS: 20 - 30 hours per week

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Supervision:

Provide supervision for up to 10 full time and part time staff members

Fundraising and Development:

Lead fundraising to identify, cultivate, and solicit prospective donors and steward current donor relationships

Identify local, federal, and foundation grant and other request for proposal (RPF) opportunities

Coordinate and submit applications for government and foundation grants, contracts, and awards, and steward award process

Build and manage relationships with new and current partner organizations to further HEAL's reach and mission

Conceptualize and host fundraising events while continuing to build and frame HEAL's brand

Serve as the organization's primary spokesperson

Finance:

Ensure HEAL's operational and fiscal integrity within the policies set by the Board; this will include providing accurate and timely budgets, progress reports, and required filings

Provide financial oversight and ensure appropriate financial controls

Responsible for organizational spending, budget oversight, and annual audit, with Executive Committee support

Operations:

Build and lead a high-performing team and ensure alignment with organizational goals

Supervise senior staff, collaborate to establish annual work plans, and conduct annual performance reviews

Work to achieve inclusiveness and diversity

Create a healthy work environment that promotes performance excellence and positive morale

Manage HEAL's operations, to include current technology for our virtual workspace

Marketing and Communications:

Oversee HEAL's marketing, communications and public relations, including social media platforms, website, and printed and digital materials

Create original content for signature publications and communications

Steward HEAL's brand and builds awareness and credibility of the organization

Serve as an informed spokesperson and represent the organization at events and in media

Research, and Community Programs:

Develop and implement strategies to promote HEAL's mission

Forge and maintain relationships of trust with multidisciplinary stakeholders

Work with HEAL's Policy Analyst to assess the efficacy of HEAL's actions and utilize the information to create data-driven policies and procedures

Consult with experts to ensure HEAL's programs are in compliance with legal and safety protocols

Work to optimize the impact of HEAL's partnerships with community groups

Leadership:

Develop, maintain, and support a strong Board of Directors

Serve as an advisor to Board and its committees

Guide Board's governance toward best practices

Equip Board members with the information needed to fulfill their duties

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's Degree (minimum), advanced degree preferred

5+ years of senior management experience including supervising team members, ideally in nonprofit management

In-depth knowledge of current fundraising practice and fundraising campaigns

Experience successfully applying for government grants and foundation awards

Thorough understanding of financial and budgeting processes and principles

Broad understanding of labor and sex trafficking, public health, and hospital systems

Proven leadership experience with ability to guide and manage team members

Strong executive presence and presentation skills

Superior relationship building and communication skills

Strong time management skills, including ability to multitask, meet tight deadlines, and be decisive.

Experience working with Boards and committees to build consensus and achieve organizational goals

Strategic thinker who is able to consider innovative ideas and insights

Strong interpersonal skills with ability to work collaboratively with a diverse group of stakeholders

Self motivated, confident, resourceful, flexible, and resilient

Ability to multitask, manage multiple projects, meet tight deadlines, and be decisive under pressure
