Porex is looking for a Continuous Improvement Engineer based in Fairburn, GA. The ideal candidate will be a creative problem solver with an intellectual curiosity coupled with a strong desire for on-going learning and development. Responsibilities:


About the Role:


The Continuous Improvement Engineer will:


  • Drive continuous improvement through all facets of the value stream to deliver significant cost savings annually
  • Focus on manufacturing methods, processes, and controls to improve manufacturing in the areas of safety, quality, process capability, throughput, productivity, waste, and maintainability.

  • Manage multiple projects related to process improvement and process validation.



Key Deliverables


  • Lead 3 – 4 Kaizen events per year to reduce cost in the manufacturing process.

  • Lead, charter, participate in and drive continuous improvement projects resulting in process improvements and cost savings.

  • Utilize Lean and Six Sigma methodologies to improve manufacturing process control, safety, quality, efficiency, and maintainability of existing products.
  • Troubleshoot existing processes and conduct root cause analysis to minimize waste and assure reliable manufacturing capability.

  • Provide clear work instructions, training, and design systems to promote sustainability of improvements.
  • Minimize and optimize inter-relationship of variables such as Human/Ergonomics, Mold characteristics, heating, cooling, material, and environment for the operation with the goal of reducing variation.

  • Evaluate and maintain cost standards for manufacturing processes.

  • Develop and prioritize continuous improvement priorities, track KPIs, and keep leadership updated on overall progress to plan

Qualifications:


Core Competencies


  • Strong capability in performing Time Study Value Add analysis to help optimize labor strategy, and improve overall productivity.

  • Ability to organize and interpret data, including statistical analysis, to isolate manufacturing problems and determine trends.

  • An understanding of material handling systems is beneficial.

  • Comfortable with ambiguity.

  • Proactive, with a demonstrated ability to lead, and relishes working with limited direction and oversight.

  • Strong working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma and team problem solving.

  • Must have strong interpersonal skills including interacting with hourly manufacturing associates, customers, and suppliers.

  • Excellent relationship building skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment working across function and business units.

  • Confident and self-aware with excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

  • Strong analytical abilities and critical thinking skills; strengths in problem solving and root cause analysis.

  • Hands-on experience and ability to troubleshoot complex manufacturing processes.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook



Education and Experience


  • BS in Engineering (Mechanical or Industrial preferred).

  • 5+ years’ experience in manufacturing required.

  • Experience with statistical methods and analysis.

  • Experience managing multiple projects in scope, schedule, and status.

  • Understanding of manufacturing P/L relative to cost savings realization.

  • Lean and/or Six Sigma Green Belt certification is preferred

  • Ability to analyze problems quickly, resulting in development of effective corrective actions.
