Job Description


The Senior Automation Engineer has a thorough understanding of the development and field implementation of documents through all project phases, sizes, and levels of complexity. Their knowledge and skill set is expanding to more complex and larger control systems such as those with advanced hardware & networks for reliability, or integrated Safety Systems. This individual has stronger interest in managing or working with the technical aspects of projects as opposed to overall staff or project management roles performed by the Lead Automation Engineer and may focus on and develop expertise around technologies or applications.


Responsibilities


  • Interface with client and external partners
  • Plan and direct work and manage a project budget form and discipline design perspective on large complex projects required
  • Project Manager to proposal development, man-hour planning, project scheduling for the discipline scope of work on intermediate level projects.
  • Advanced experience conducting and leading field surveys of existing conditions and support of field reporting
  • Identify and resolve intermediate non-compliant existing conditions during site walks and construction field surveys
  • Develop intermediate internal discipline design and engineering training presentations
  • Develop construction drawing packages and write construction specifications on advanced and complex projects with little oversight
  • Lead and advanced support of construction activities such as RFI responses, submittal reviews, punch list development, and construction progress reports
  • Conduct quality checking of documents for intermediate complex projects, e.g. technical verification of design calculations and documentation, and drive overall project quality
  • Provide mentorship to discipline Engineer I and II and/or Designer I and II
  • Lead advanced project system design programming and master planning with support from Senior Engineer
  • Lead a team of discipline staff in the execution of advanced projects discipline design and engineering


Qualifications


Minimum Qualifications


  • ABET-accredited Bachelor s degree in discipline specific degree (ARE, ChemE, ME or EE)
  • Minimum of 15 years of experience for Senior position, preferably in a design firm setting
  • Professional Registration
  • ISA Certified Automation Professional Certification (preferred)


Additional Qualifications


  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office required
  • Proficiency in discipline specific software required
  • Advanced knowledge of GMP manufacturing environments
  • Advanced experience with performing instrumentation and controls engineering calculations, and developing and implementing instrumentation and control system design
  • Advanced with implementing fundamental design aspects of control system schematics, panel fabrication drawings, field wiring plans design preferred
  • Advanced experience reading and interpreting Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams
  • Advanced experience with the electrical code
  • Intermediate experience with other applicable industry standards
  • Intermediate experience with applicable mechanical and building codes
  • Intermediate experience and knowledge with designing Safety Instrumented Systems
  • Proficient with advanced internal and external cross-discipline project team coordination
  • Proficient with advanced coordination with construction trade partners, vendors, and manufacturers
  • Proficient at advanced design calculations with limited supervision
