ROLE DEFINITION

DuPont E&I CMPT has an exciting Run Plant Engineer opportunity in Polymerics Operation in Newark, DE. The Run Plant Engineer acts as a technical resource for operations personnel, applying technical skills within Production, to optimize plant operations, resolve plant problems and enables safe and efficient production of quality products. This role is to provide a technical resource to assist work teams on daily operations and process performance so as to run a high quality, low cost, reliable, optimized operation, thereby maximizing value to the business in a safe and environmentally friendly manner.

RESPONSIBILITIES DESCRIPTION ​

Your key responsibilities will be/what you’ll do:

  • Understands broad process technology, equipment and control technology. Works with Technical Advising and plant personnel to optimize operations to meet Business and plant goals.  (Environmental, Health & Safety, Production, Quality, Productivity, Cost, reliability).

  • Provides technical support and high level leadership to operations and direction in day-to-day decision making for area of responsibility. Participates in advanced troubleshooting and provides on-call resource for off-shifts support.

  • Monitors process and product stability through advanced SPC program and timely reaction to process upsets, including process troubleshooting and disposition of affected material. Drives variation reduction efforts. Works with plant process control personnel to continuously refine process control.

  • Tracks and reports on key operating parameters (yield, scrap, unplanned events, out of control rates, etc.), and drives improvement in KPIs.  

  • Facilitates/participates in root cause investigations to prevent recurrence of unplanned events and coaches others to learn these skills.

  • Drives lean principles in the area of responsibility, including leading Kaizen events.

  • Identifies and evaluates improvement opportunities in operations and reliability.

  • Executes improvement projects in own module or across modules around business and plant goals (EH&S, Quality, Production, and Cost)

  • Assists in development and maintenance of operating discipline.

  • Actively participates and leads teams.

  • Networks with other engineers on site and within the business to leverage experience and knowledge.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering is required. Chemical and Mechanical will receive top consideration.

  • 0-2 years of industry experience with co-op/internship experience required.

  • The ability to solve problems and prioritize and execute multiple tasks simultaneously is needed.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work closely with operations, maintenance, and other functional groups.

  • Ability to effectively lead projects and teams.

  • Strong sense of ownership and commitment to the success of the team are necessary.

  • Appreciation for effect of Quality on customers and understanding of Good Manufacturing Practices.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Lean and Six Sigma experience a plus.

  • 2 or more years industry experience (manufacturing, engineering, etc.)

  • SPC knowledge a plus.
