Boeing Defense, Space, and Security (BDS) is seeking a Production Engineer Senior Manager to join the VC-25B Production Engineering Team. This position is located in San Antonio, TX. As a Production Engineer Senior Manager, you will lead a team of Manufacturing Engineers and Planners to support the modification, test, and ultimate delivery of two 747-8i to become the next generation “Air Force One” VC-25B Aircraft in San Antonio. The VC-25B factory operations span multiple shifts throughout the day; this leadership position is primarily aligned to 1st shift, but will require shift flexibility at times.


Position Responsibilities:

  • Manages subordinate managers leading manufacturing engineering teams on the VC-25B program to complete non-recurring build planning (IP authoring and build integration) activities

  • Partners closely with other Sr. Managers on the program and across the site & business unit, to lead technical development, implementation, analysis and improvement activities for the production engineering function

  • Develops long range strategy and integrated organizational plans, policies and procedures and guides the development of business plans, strategies, goals, and objectives

  • Acquires and coordinates resources for organizational activities

  • Develops and maintains relationships with customers, stakeholders, suppliers, peers, partners and direct reports to ensure organizational alignment to business unit strategies and goals

  • Provides oversight and approval of technical approaches, products and processes to ensure alignment with business plans and goals

  • Creates and maintains management system processes within business units

  • Creates and monitors business unit performance to support strategic planning, execution, and reporting

  • Develops and motivates employees and their direct managers

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.

This position requires ability to obtain program access, for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship only.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor's, Master's or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry

  • 3+ years managing or leading engineering teams

  • 3+ years’ experience using excellent verbal and written communication skills to communicate with leaders and colleagues in an operations environment

  • 3+ years’ experience working in a highly regulated manufacturing environment where compliance with policies and procedures is essential

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Active Secret/Top Secret Clearance

  • Aircraft modification / supplemental type certificate experience

Summary pay range: $178,500 – $241,500
