Remote Vice President of Engineering - Hiring Immediately

Specific to your role, we're looking for individuals who have...

• 10+ years of experience leading successful technology/engineering organizations at scale.
• Deep knowledge and experience leading cloud-based development in a high-growth company, cyber and information security, big data engineering and system architecture design.
• Proven ability to build software from the ground up, optimize mature products, and balance short-term and long-term technology investments across a portfolio of products and services.
• Experience leading technology projects across different time zones, languages, and engineering teams in multiple locations.
• Ability to quickly learn new technologies and assess their strengths and weaknesses from both a technical and business viability perspective.
• Experience effectively managing time between hands-on problem solving and big-picture planning.
• Outstanding verbal, written, organizational and project management skills.
• You are a builder and not afraid to get into the weeds and contribute to programming efforts. All leaders, including senior leadership, are not here to just tell people what to do. They are here to get stuff done.
• Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related technical discipline.

• Deep technical hands-on experience in technology enabled services or self-service software solutions.
• Experience with software architectures and system design.
• Experience with cloud technologies, big data, machine learning and artificial intelligence.
• Familiarity with AWS, Kubernetes, Docker, Kafka, GraphQL, Ruby on Rails, Python, Go, React.
• Excellent debugging and performance analysis skills.
• Strong design sensibilities in UX.
• Experience in software research and technology incubation.
• High tolerance to ambiguity and ability to make progress in the face of it.

Key Objectives and Responsibilities

• Set the overall vision and direct the strategic plan for the engineering organization, focusing on architecture and development strategies consistent with Design Pickle's business objectives, evaluating new and emerging technologies, and identifying opportunities that can unlock customer value and operational scale.
• Build and lead a world-class Engineering organization consisting of software engineering, development operations, and security. Design and execute a strategic plan for developing and empowering teams with process disciplines that optimize production quality and drive development efficiency and operational excellence.
• Participate in long-term strategic and operational planning, working closely with the CEO and COO and collaboratively with the Head of Product to guide the direction of the product portfolio and prioritize development initiatives to achieve business goals and objectives.
• Continue Design Pickle's commitment to creating incredible user experiences and developing and mature backend services supporting the platform, enabling future global scale, and reducing the reliance on 3rd party integrations.
• Monitor & upskill capabilities and adopt AI/ML approaches/algorithms to advance performance. Track and respond to performance on revenue yield, conversion, retention, utilization, etc. and drive continuous improvement and proactive issue identification and resolution.
• Forecast & maintain budget targets (cloud, people, licenses, etc.) and productivity of technical resources. Establish, define and track metrics and monitor progress to ensure that objectives are achieved in software development and technical operations.
• Collaborate with key partners - product, sales, marketing, people, and finance - to align strategic goals with technology-driven initiatives.
• Foster a strong technical culture that rewards transparency, experimentation, and innovation and is focused on serving the customer rather than merely the company's success.
