Our Department-22, Advanced Concepts and Technologies (ACT), Advanced Electro Optical (AEO) Section is seeking committed engineers and scientists who are passionate about creating innovative and cost-effective solutions.
We have an immediate career opportunity for a Senior Principal Systems Engineer to join our Engineering team in McKinney, TX. The AEO engineering team designs and integrates optical sensors into unique automated systems to perform research and development for our customer in fielded environments.
This Senior Principal Engineer will be responsible for generating proposals and responses to RFP (Request for Proposal), RFI (Request for Information), RFQ (Request for Quote) and other Bid & Proposal activities, cost estimation and generating Basis of Estimates (BOEs) in the Electro Optic (EO) and Infrared (IR) sensor related programs. The candidate should be proficient to define Optical Systems Architecture, perform various Image and Data Analysis and develop system requirements from the customer requirements and map the system level requirements down to subsystem requirements and propose technical solutions to an RFP / RFQ.
Required Skills:
Lead development of multiple EO\IR sensor proposals, seeking awards including multiple strategic and competitive captures
Development of technical baselines for proposals that meet customer requirements including schedule and cost targets
Serve as Proposal Lead and contribute in the creation of formal technical volumes to attach to proposals
Executing trade studies and analysis on IRAD and CRAD that will define roadmap for Raytheon’s next generation of EO/IR Systems
Development of customer relationships to shape both customer requirements to align to roadmaps of capability and Raytheon focus to meet customer’s key needs and schedule
Establishing Raytheon’s role as a trusted technical partner for development of systems to meet future capability needs.
Leading cross functional technical teams to generate BOEs and cost estimates that will lead to a winning cost proposal
Requires existing and active Secret clearance on Day-1, with the ability to get Top Secret clearance and program specific clearances.
Desired Skills:
Create system specification documents covering performance, environmental and logistics requirements for a future sensor
Work with suppliers to establish specifications and statements of work to support bidding and proposal efforts in the near-term and long-term.
Work with internal team to shape IRAD efforts in support of development of key technology building blocks that could be implemented in various programs.
Participate in interface control working groups with the customer to shape and refine the expectations for the capability and interfaces of the sensor.
Working from customer supplied documentation for the platform, identify risk areas for the sensor integration effort and devise solutions to mitigate the risks.
Establish common architecture for the EO/IR sensor development and lead team to create a standardized test plan and integration flow for the sensor, including required test equipment personnel and facilities.
Establish a design concept for the system and scope the effort for use in the bid as well as establishing a staffing plan for the program.
Required Education & Experience:
A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience and a BS in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics; or 8 years of relevant experience with a MS in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics.
Requires expert or mastery level knowledge of work area, typically obtained through advanced education combined with experience.
May have deep knowledge of project management. Advanced knowledge of related disciplines within work area and
ability to identify links and potential impact on projects, programs
or systems.
Typically requires:
A University Degree or equivalent experience and minimum 10 years
prior relevant experience, or An Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years experience Engineering/Other Technical Positions: Typically requires a degree
in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 10 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited
by local laws/regulations.
